The ICHOR Gallery houses the work of four artists; Anthony Christian, Marian Fanny Christian, Julia Cuddlewell and Honey Potter.
Anthony Christian is well known for his preservation of the Renaissance-style and has been known as "the modern pioneer of classical renaissance". Fortunatly he has passed his technique down to two of his former pupils Julia and Honey whose oil paintings we now have on display in our gallery.
Marian's art is far more contemporary, prefering to work with water-colour pencils and pens. Her drawings could be described as Abstract Surrealism, though in reality they defy definition. Her popular Fanergy Series is a synergy of her drawings and nude photography.
Also on display is Anthony Christian's renowned LillyEgg Collection; a series of Old Master paintings repainted with an erotic theme intended to help the world realise the beauty of Erotic Art, and also a tribute to the great Masters who have inspired him.

From 1956 - ‘62 Anthony Christian studied by copying in the National Gallery, in London. During those years he found himself strongly repulsed by so many works of violence, from crucifixions to beheadings. He also came to realize that the Gallery, like the other major museums of the world, was padded out with relatively mediocre works, which for credibility all hung on the backs of the few great ones. He thought how wonderful it would be if a Museum existed in which there was nothing but the greatest masterpieces and all without the terrible violence.
Many years later from 1968 - 1988, he studied Erotic Art through probably the largest collection in the world, housed in Paris and comprising over 1 million pieces from the 14th Century to date. During that time he came to love the works so much it became his life’s ambition to create paintings that might cause the genre of Erotic Art to be accepted as completely as Still Life or Landscape.

Drawing is known as "the medium that cannot lie." Most connoisseurs agree that when you are looking at the drawing you are truly seeing the Master - or not, as the case may be. There haven't been that many great draughtsmen, although many people can paint. With painting, especially oil painting, it is possible to "waffle" with the brush, and to cover up or change things as you go along, until they "look right." But with drawing, which cannot be erased, you are looking at the first thoughts of an artist, and the skill with which those first thoughts are translated into line will tell you much about the status of the Master on the scale of things.

Stunning series of classical oil paintings based upon works by Old Masters but repainted with an erotic theme by the artist Anthony Christian with the intention of helping the world realise the beauty of Erotic Art, and also as a tribute to the great Masters who have inspired him.
The LillyEggs are much larger than the original works they are inspired by. All are between 6 and 7 feet tall. They are so incredibly beautiful and it is easy to lose yourself in the all the minute detail. I hope you are as moved by them as I am.

The Fanergy Series
The female form has been a favorite subject for artists down the ages, but there is an air of mystery surrounding Marian Fanny Christian's nudes. This innovative artist first photographs her subject and then overlays the picture with her intricate abstract drawings, giving a surreal effect. Some look like tattoos or bodypaint, others appear to have a lacy veil drawn across them, but all recognise the divine beauty of the female nude.

Julia Cuddlewell first showed her talent at an early age. She was brought up surrounded by Art and her parents, noting her natural gift for painting, took her to the world’s great museums during her holidays. When she discovered a series of erotic paintings by artist Anthony Christian known as the LillyEgg Collection it opened up to her the possibilities that exist in the genre of Erotic Art, which she hadn’t even known existed; from then on she too wished nothing more than to study with Anthony Christian, and she spent two years in Bali studying with him.

Honey Potter, a student of Anthony Christian, was born Honora di Santo, in New York, April 1957. Her parents were passionate art collectors, and after they married they met Anthony Christian and commissioned a series of paintings from him; these paintings were known as LillyEggs. Honora was considered by all who encountered her an exceptionally sweet child and came to be called Honey from when she was very young.
She grew up surrounded by Fine Art and, of course, the LillyEgg Collection. So touched was she by the Lillyeggs that as she grew up it became her ambition to study with Christian at his Bali Studio; an ambition forefilled in 1975 when she moved to Bali, where she still lives, and spent three years studying with him.
